Hello parents! Happy Fall! We are officially in the second quarter of the school year! This is the perfect opportunity for you to review with your child their academic progress/status. You can do this by checking on parent view and having your child check on their student view where you can both see the final first quarter grades. If your child did not do as well as they (or you) expected during the past quarter, please remind them that this second quarter will be a fresh start where they can develop better study habits and put forth their best effort. The following are some tips that you can provide to your child to help them improve academically, if needed: *Ask questions in class if something seems confusing. *Keep an agenda and have an organized binder. *Take notes in class, review old quizzes, homework or other worksheets. *Utilize panther time wisely (i.e. read a book, study for upcoming test, finish HW, ask for help). *Manage time effectively at home to complete academic tasks. *Stay after-school with a teacher for extra help if needed. (But make sure your child asks the teacher first if they can stay after with them). If your child did well during the first quarter, it would be a good idea to praise their efforts and dedication to their schoolwork. It’s important for our students to know that their hard work does not go unnoticed and that we are proud of them. Likewise, our students also need to know that we are here to motivate and support them if they are struggling academically. Looking Ahead: The Student Services department will host its 2nd parent coffee this month on Tuesday, November 27th at 9am in the school cafeteria. This presentation will include several breakout sessions for parents. We encourage you to attend. As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school counselor. We are here to support you and your students!
