Congratulations to instructional assistant Ashli Matus George who was recognized as the FCPS 2020 Region 1 Outstanding School-based Operational Employee and one of six finalists for the 2020 Outstanding School-based Operational Employee award!
Positive, passionate, and giving her best, Ashli embodies the message to know “every student by name and by need.” Supporting English Learners in a variety of subjects, in a population of students struggling to find their sense of belonging and purpose in new physical, cultural, and educational surroundings, Ashli is there to help them. Students flock to her for kindness, a little tough love, and academic support. She connects with students, helping them “fix” things on their own, fueling their resilience. She has the utmost patience and enthusiasm, and models respect and caring for diversity and culture. “Ashli is instrumental in helping us support students, so they can discover the mystery of the world, grow, learn, and achieve.”
