2020-21 School Year and Virtual Learning

Last Day of School is Friday, June 11
June 11 is the last day of school for Carson students and it's also a 2-Hour Early Release. Click here to see the schedule for the day.
All Students to Learn Virtually on June 8
On Tuesday June 8, primary elections will take place in Virginia. Many FCPS schools (including RCMS) will be used as polling locations. To accommodate voting and social distancing needs, June 8 is now a virtual synchronous day for all students – meaning all students (both virtual and in-person students) will log in to classes via BBCU from their home on that day. There will be no in person learning at Carson on June 8.
Summer VIP Program at Carson
Summer VIP is back! This program is designed to create a fun, relaxed environment for students to engage in a variety of activities and engage with their peers. Space will be limited and registration will open on Friday, April 23.
Important SOL Testing Dates and Updates (SOLS must be taken at Carson!)
Carson will be administering SOL tests this spring. Middle school students have the opportunity to take the Reading SOL (grades 7 and 8), Math SOL (grades 7 and 8), and Science 8 SOL. Please click here for specific information pertaining to each test as well ask information regarding refusal options.
COVID-19 Vaccination Appointment Scheduling
People 16 years and older may schedule an appointment to receive one of the three available free COVID-19 vaccines at Fairfax County Health Department clinics, the Tysons Community Vaccination Center, or the George Mason University. A parent or other adult (18 years and over) must physically accompany a minor at the COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
No-Cost Meals for All FCPS Students through June 30, 2021
Grab and Go meal sites are open 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Meal Kits sites distribute each Monday from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., or until supplies are exhausted. Buses distributing meals are operating Monday through Friday. Meals will be available at no-cost Monday-Friday at all schools with in-person instruction. Specific information about meal distribution locations and bus distribution schedules are available.

Parent Technology Help Desk
To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, Fairfax County Public Schools now has a Parent Technology Help Desk. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. If the help desk is unable to solve the issue on the phone with the parent or guardian, they will enter a ticket on the parent’s behalf and the request for help will be transferred to the appropriate FCPS team.
