RCMS Summer Hours
During the summer, Carson's front office will be open from 9am-1pm, Monday-Friday.
Summer Jump Start Program, RCMS 101
The RCMS 101 program is primarily a non-academic transitional program that focuses on helping rising 7th graders get to know RCMS and the expectations of middle school. Registration begins July 1, 2021 on MySchoolBucks.
Carson Summer Reading
This summer, we would like you all to read at least ONE new (to you) book of your choice. Our goal is to promote reading for pleasure. Whether you’re on a plane, in the car, at the beach, pool, or in the comfort of your own home, it’s great to have a book in hand! Click here for more details!
FCPS issued Laptops to be Returned the Last Week of School
FCPS Student Laptop Return Dates:
All 7th and 8th grade students will need to return their FCPS issued laptops at the end of this school year. In person students who will be at Carson on Friday, June 11, will return their laptop and charger at the end of the day. Any students who are not at Carson on June 11, including all virtual students, can return their laptop and charger at our drive through return event on either Monday June 14 or Tuesday, June 15 (whichever works better for you).
No-Cost Summer Meals for Students
No cost summer meals for students available June 28 to August 5 at ten school sites and on 40 bus routes.
Virtual Mental Wellness Consultation
Any Fairfax County parent may schedule a 45-minute Virtual Mental Wellness Consultation this summer from June 28 through August 6. The consultation can take place by phone or video conferencing with a school psychologist or school social worker to get the support needed to help your child. There is no cost for this service.
Come Back for 5 Days
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is reaching out to parents, encouraging them to send their children back to in-person learning this fall. Take a look at images on banners, yard signs, and social media that highlight exceptional programs available to students as FCPS returns strong.
There is now a new Emergency Broadband Benefit available to eligible households through the Federal Communications Commission. This is a temporary benefit that will help to lower the cost of internet broadband service during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more.
COVID-19 Vaccinations Available for Ages 12 and Up
As our community strives to achieve herd immunity, vaccinating children ages 12 and up is a critical step towards achieving that goal and will help to keep our schools healthy places to learn. We encourage everyone 12 years of age and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Many locations offer same-day appointments, and some even have walk in availability. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or another adult at all community vaccination sites.
