Hello RCMS Students and Families!

My name is Gina Fajardo and I will be the counselor for the Trailblazer and Yellow Jackets teams this year.  This is my 9^th year at Rachel Carson Middle School and I am very excited to be working and getting to know all of you.   A little bit about me:  I am originally from South America but was raised in Fairfax and attended FCPS schools growing up.  I have a Bachelors in Psychology, a Minor in Sociology and a Masters in Counseling & Development all from George Mason University.  I have been a school counselor in FCPS for 18 years, and prior to coming to Rachel Carson, I worked at both the High School and Elementary levels.  I love working with all the grade levels and forming good relationships with my students and their families.  I am also the parent of a toddler boy named Joey and have cats as pets.  Some of my favorite hobbies include listening to music and singing, traveling, going to the pool and the beach in the summer, trying new restaurants,  doing fun things outdoors, and of course cuddling with my toddler son.  My counseling philosophy is that all students need to feel listened to and validated, and I hope to be one of their trusted adults this school year.  Please do not ever hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
