Dear Panther Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Christy Ryder and I am the school counselor for the 7th grade Majestics and the 8th grade Dolphins teams. This is start of my third year at Rachel Carson Middle School and my 23rd year in FCPS. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology and Education from James Madison University (JMU) and my master's degree is in School Counseling from Virginia Tech.  I also have a certificate in Educational Leadership from JMU. 

When I am not at school, I am busy with my children at one of their many activities and try to sneak in a walk with my dog, George, each day.  I enjoy being outdoors, going to concerts and sporting events, reading a good book, and watching movies. I also love traveling, especially to Disney World. 

Relationships are the foundation of my work as a school counselor. I can't wait to get to know all the RCMS students and look forward to partnering with families and school staff to make this a great year of learning!
