Welcome to Panther’s Track & Field!
Registration has ended for this season. We hope you'll join us next season!
Welcome to Panther’s Track &Field! This is the first year for any program like this at the middle school level and we are very excited to offer this opportunity.
Students and parents will need to complete several steps prior to participating in middle school sports, including:
- A completed FCPS Middle School Sports Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Physical Examination Form (PPE). The exam must be completed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant. Please note that the form must be dated on or after May 1, 2023 for the 2023-2024 school year.
- If the student turned in a physical form to participate in Fall Cross Country, you do not need a new physical or form, however, please complete pages 1 and 4 only of the form above.
- A NEW completed MS Sports Participant Registration form, which also requires parents and athletes to review the FCPS Student-Athlete Athletic Health Education Program.
- Student-athletes in FCPS are required to be covered by medical insurance. If your student is not covered by another plan, here is an option to consider.
- Each student-athlete and a parent/guardian will complete a registration process that includes the state-mandated concussion education program and Emergency Care Card information before the student participates in middle school sports.
- All of the above must be completed before athletes are eligible to practice or participate.
Please submit all forms to the Athletics Coordinator in the RCMS main office. The last day to register for this season was April 8th.
Important: Please see the time and travel requirements below. If a student participates in outside/community sports or events which conflict with these constraints, you may consider whether or not to participate in RCMS Track & Field. Athletes will not be allowed to arrive late or leave separately from meets.
Each meet will begin at 8:00am and end at 1:00pm, not including travel time. Athletes MUST be present the entire time, regardless of their scheduled event. (bring books, snacks, drinks, homework, etc., for waiting times.)
Athletes MUST ride the bus to and from the meets. Buses will leave from and return to Carson MS. Parents must provide transportation to RCMS and promptly pick up students upon return.
Scheduled Meets for the 2024 Track & Field Season:
- April 13 – Robinson HS
- April 20 – Edison HS
- April 27 – South Lakes HS
- May 4 – bye week
- May 11 – Centreville HS
Athletes will need to sign up through the Track & Field Schoology page before each meet to confirm their event participation and obtain an accurate account for transportation. If athletes are not signed up in advance by the specified meet deadline, they will not be able to compete.
Each athlete may compete in a maximum of two running events and one field event, or in fewer events if desired, per meet.

Many Parent volunteers are needed for the Track & Field season! In addition, if you have pop-up tents, portable tables or off-road wagons we can borrow, those supplies would be gratefully appreciated! Please see this link to explain volunteer requirements. Please sign-up to volunteer using this link.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the meets to cheer on their athlete!
We look forward to an exciting season!
